Last week a friend stopped by unannounced and sprung the coolest darn story on me!
It went a little something like this:
“You know I was in New Orleans at the Christmas parade and I saw a lady wearing one of your Jumpsuits, so I walked up to her and said ‘hey, do you know Lindsey?’ “
The woman replied “well yes I do! I met Lindsey at Sand Castle Festival in Galveston”
This small moment of connection conducted by the art, had blossomed into a day of kindred spirits sharing holiday joy at the parade!
This simple story brought happy tears to my eyes and made me smile so big my face hurt. It was another surreal moment of “wow, this is REALLY working, the art is REALLY having the positive impact I only dared to hope it could have on others” I was Blown away and absolutely heart warmed by this connection that had to spread state to state, THEN human to human.
My heart was already exploding with bliss when this story spiraled into another unexpected story. Robby went on to say “you know what else, I was in this bar in New Orleans, wearing one of your bucket hats, and I got to talking with this guy because he noticed the hat, it was my first time even wearing it. By the end of the conversation, I just had to give it to him, so now he’s got your art”
Not once, but twice!? No wayyyy man.
Everything happens for a reason. Who YOU are is important. Your gifts matter. Your ability to share a smile or a laugh with a stranger or a friend matter. Everything we do has a ripple effect. YOU have the ability to connect with people in a way that’s unique to you, therefore making every connection unique. Putting Your Most Authentic self into the world matters.
You never know whose path you will cross and how deeply your interaction may or may not impact one another, so go forth with good things.
It’s not just the way my art has impacted others, but how each of you continue to impact & inspire me through the interactions we get to have because art.
